Natural Therapies

for the Body & Mind

Healing illness rooted in Stress and Trauma

Body and mind are connected.

It makes sense to treat your whole body-mind as one being, and to have a

therapist that can support your mental, emotional, and physical symptoms.

Anxious. Overwhelmed. Exhausted.

Something is wrong. Despite real effort put into numerous diets, different doctors, therapists, and practitioners (and spending tons of money on medications, herbs, and supplements), you are STILL not healed. Maybe it’s getting worse.

  • Worried or anxious because your health is not improving?

  • Confused about the next step to take?

  • Need help figuring out what is wrong?

The Missing Link:

Is stress or trauma at the root of your problem?

  • Anxiety and Depression

  • Adrenal Fatigue

  • Auto-Immune Diseases

  • Chronic Fatigue and Chronic Pain

  • Diabetes and other metabolic disorders

  • Digestion and gut problems

  • Hormonal Imbalances

  • Obesity and Weight Gain

If healing at the root of the problem doesn’t occur, you’ll be stuck in the never-ending cycle of symptom management and unlikely to achieve the vibrant health you deserve.

SOMATIC STRESS AND TRAUMA RESOLUTION

Working with the Body-Mind

Unresolved Stress and Trauma

Trauma and stress are experienced and stored in your entire physical body, not just in your brain, mind or memory.

When under stress, your body excretes very powerful hormones and neurotransmitters that change the physical state of your body.

Past trauma and current stressors that aren’t resolved can severely dysregulate your nervous system and cause you to be stuck in a permanent state of fight-or-flight. This affects your entire being, leading to further mental, emotional and physical distress and illness because it disrupts all your body systems including your immune system, cardiovascular system, digestive system and musculoskeletal system.

Unresolved past trauma not only makes you sick, but it also puts your life on hold. This is because your body is stuck in the past state of distress which keeps you anxious about the future so you can’t be fully present. To fully resolve trauma you must work with the body and the mind.

Unwind the Trauma and Stress

I welcome the opportunity to help you unwind the stress and trauma that’s currently living in your system. Together, we will re-wire your body-mind system so you can live in the present and be in charge of your life and your health.

“In order to change, people need to become aware of their sensations and the way that their bodies interact with the world around them. Physical self-awareness is the first step in releasing the tyranny of the past.”

~ Bessel A. van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma

Using Somatic (Body-Based) Therapy

Somatic therapy may include breath-work, vocalization, healing postures and/or movement to release the unresolved stress and trauma out of the nervous system which in turn stimulates healing and restoration of the entire being.

Some benefits include:

  • Improves sense of control and encourages healthy boundaries

  • Renews a sense of trust, safety, and security

  • Fosters new stress management skills

  • Eases body tension and rigidity

  • Reduces potency of triggers and reduces the number of dissociative episodes

  • Models acceptance and compassion, improves the capacity for intimacy

  • Provides a sense of groundedness, of belonging to the body

  • Gains the ability to be more present at the moment

  • Decreases anxiety and improves sleep.

How I Can Help You

As a licensed Massage Therapist and experienced energy healing practitioner, I am trained and certified in two forms of Somatic Therapy (Trauma Touch Therapy and Trauma Dynamics) which I use in conjunction with Body-Mind and energy healing techniques including Transpersonal Energy Healing and Trauma Energetics Coaching to support you in your healing process.

During a session, I often use gentle movement and grounding exercises that help in trauma resolution in addition to relaxation and mindfulness techniques that will help you with stress management.

Online sessions include dialogue and guided activities and exercises very similar to the techniques used in an in-person session that help to achieve the resolution of toxic stress and trauma out of your body.

How I Help My Clients Heal the

Root of Their Illness

DETECTIVE WORK

It begins with a very detailed intake process to uncover the possible root cause of your symptoms.

This means reviewing all aspects of your health,

including diet, environment, habits, exposures, stressors, as well as events and emotions from your past. We are going to dig deep to find clues about what’s really going on with your symptoms and assess what might be at the root of your suffering.

ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM

Finding the root is the only part of the process.

Whether it’s a gut problem, an infection, hormonal imbalance, toxic exposure, early family conditioning or old stuck energy from a past trauma, removal of the root cause is a necessity.

Freeing yourself from the problem (including old habits and patterns) will make space for the creation of your new, healthy life.

CULTIVATING SELF AWARENESS

Your symptoms are your allies and they provide clues that lead to deeper understanding.

Your body is always telling you what it needs to be healthy and vibrant.

Learning the language of your body will shed light on your unconscious thoughts, beliefs, habits, and patterns that are inhibiting your health.

This awareness will empower you to heal and enable you to make conscious choices that will lead to a better future.

CREATING NEW PATTERNS

Once you’ve removed the root cause you can work toward implementing new habits and patterns that are in alignment with your goals.

This might include self-care routines like diet, supplements or other natural remedies, stress management, exercise or meditation.

It also might include learning better communication skills, setting clear boundaries and improving your internal dialog.

We will work with your body and your mind to re-wire new habits and patterns into your daily routine that lead to vibrant health.
